Unions organise week of action on pay

Several public sector trade union organisations are coordinating a week of action on pay in December (9-13). The unions and federations - CFDT, CFTC, CGC, CGT, FAFPT, FSU, Solidaires et UNSA - are protesting about the freezing of pay as of 1 July 2010 and the extension of this freeze until 2014. The unions say that there are major problems withe the pay system and career development while years of austerity and low or no pay increases have left around one in five public sector workers on not much more than the minimum wage.

Unions organise week of action on health and social care

The GPA-DJP and VIDA trade unions have organised a week of action (14-17 April) calling for increased funding of health and social care, including better pay and conditions for workers in the sector, along with creation of more jobs. The unions argue that the 200,000 mainly women workers in the sector do not get enough recognition for the work they do and the stress and strains of their jobs. Ver.di launches week of action for better pay in church organisations

Services union ver.di is organising a series of strikes and demonstrations between 22 and 25 September as part of a campaign to secure decent pay for decent work in church organisations. The union says that there have been no pay increases in the sector for over four years and that the main employers’ organisation, the VdDD, is pursuing a wage dumping policy to finance the expansion of its organisations. Unions organise week of action pay, jobs and funding across public services

The FP-CGIL, UIL-PA and UIL-FPL public service federations are planning a week of action from 12-16 December with protests and strikes around the country in protest at the government’s budget for 2023. The unions argue that the budget fails to provide adequate funding across a range of services with nothing to address the cost-of-living crisis, to cover the renewal of collective agreements, to increase public employment, to end precarious contracts, to improve training and to ensure quality of services from childcare to health and social care and across local and national administration.
