A study commissioned by the Impact public services union reveals the complexity of making pay comparisons of public sector jobs between different countries. The report looked at a range of occupations and compared similar jobs in Ireland and Germany. The comparison of pay rates showed that certain jobs such as clerical workers and primary school teachers are paid less in Ireland even before taking account of the higher cost of living.

EPSU is working with researchers at the University of Amsterdam and the international network of Wage Indicator websites to promote a survey of occupational pay in the energy, waste and water sectors. EPSU wants its affiliates to encourage their members to complete an online survey which is available in national languages in 21 EU countries. Read more at > EPSU
Next month a new project will be launched that aims to collect data on salaries in the energy, waste and water sectors. Supported by EPSU the project will be run by researchers at the University of Amsterdam using the international network of Wage Indicator websites. EPSU affiliates will be urged to get involved and encourage their individual members in the energy, waste and water sectors to complete a short online survey.
