The FSC-CCOO and FSP-UGT public service federations have organised protests and legal challenges against local government in Madrid and the regional government of Murcia. In both cases, the authorities have attempted to make changes to employment conditions which they have no legal right to do. Over 15,000 workers joined a demonstration in Murcia that called for the resignation of the president of the regional government.

The second of three regional collective bargaining conferences will take place in Madrid on 16-17 June. The main issues for debate will include equal pay, precarious employment and outsourcing. Invitations to the Madrid meeting are primarily aimed at affiliates from: Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Croatia, Macedonia and Slovenia. Following the first collective bargaining regional conference in on 16-17 March in Copenhagen, EPSU is organising another regional event, this time in Madrid on 16-17 June (this is a day later than originally planned). These regional conferences provide an opportunity for between 40 and 50 participants to debate a range of issues, including outsourcing, equal pay, precarious employment and working time.
