Firefighters organised by the CGIL, CSIL and UIL public service federations were involved in a national four-hour stoppage on 20 July. The unions organised the protest in response to government plans for budget cuts and demands to conclude a new collective agreement as the previous one expired two and a half years ago.

Workers at museums and historical buildings in Greenwich in South East London took strike action on 1 January in protest at changes to their contracts imposed by management. The changes mean fewer breaks, removal of paid breaks and an extension of hours in which workers' shifts can fall. All these effectively undermine the 3% increase in the hourly rate negotiated by their trade union Prospect last year. The new terms and conditions also don't guarantee payment of the unofficial London living wage which is currently GBP 10.20 (EUR 11.50).
The three main federations representing firefighters have announced a day's strike action on 18 June (postponed from 5 June). The unions are protesting over a range of issues including inadequate funding and staffing, pay, recruitment, the regulation of the system of voluntary firefighters and failure to recognise the dangerous and arduous nature of the job in terms of pension entitlement. The FBU firefighters' union has called a 24-hour strike on 12 and a seven-hour stoppage on 21 June in protest at the government's decision to break off negotiations and make unilateral changes to the firefighters' pension scheme. The union will also call for a ban on overtime in between the strikes which will be the 13th and 14th in the dispute over the pension changes that could see firefighters lose pension rights if they are unable to maintain operational fitness until the age of 60.
