Employees covered by the social welfare services collective labour agreement will get a 2% pay increase from 1 May and a further 1% from 1 January 2008. The agreement also introduces new job security measures for all employees. Inflation in the Netherlands was 1.9% in the year to March.

New collective agreement in child welfare sector
After several months of negotiations ABVAKABO FNV and the other unions in the sector (CNV public matter and FBZ) have concluded a new agreement covering child welfare workers. The agreement runs from 1 January to 31 December 2005. The salary increase of 1.5 percent will be paid as 1.0 percent from 1 January 2005 and 0.5 per cent from 1 September. Along with pensions and sick pay there are two other important parts of the agreement covering workloads and employer contributions of at least a sixth of the share of the costs of nursery spaces. New agreement for church social welfare workers
Around 5000 employees of the Diakonie church social welfare organisation will benefit from a new agreement negotiated by the vida and GPA-djp trade unions. There will be a 1.35% increase on all pay and allowances apart from those workers on less than EUR 1500 a month who will be 1.5%. There will also be new rules on past work experience. Now half of all previous experience in any job will be taken into account in terms of the pay scale up to a maximum of 10 years. This should benefit many women workers in particular. First collective agreement for social welfare sector
The FSAP-CCOO and FSP-UGT public service federations have signed the first collective agreement to cover the social welfare sector. The framework agreement will cover around 100,000 workers in over 1,600 organisations working in a range of areas such as immigration, drug abuse, violence against women and social inclusion. The framework agreement will establish some basic working conditions and minimum pay rates and the union federations will negotiate more detailed agreements at regional level.
