German unions in the Swedish-owned energy group Vattenfall have secured an agreement with the company that any employees affected by outsourcing will continue to be covered by the existing collective agreement. The unions, including public service union ver.di, organised a number of demonstrations across Germany and were supported by SEKO which organises in the parent company in Sweden.

Unions maintain their campaign over pay and collective agreement
January will see further action by the STAL municipal services union and the Fiquemetal industrial union as they continue to campaign to the get the AdP water company to abide by and properly implement the collective agreement negotiated in 2018. The unions are also calling for pay increases for AdP workers and application of an allowance for arduous work. The two unions have been coordinating action and organised a joint national strike in June with a range of demands including a €90 pay increase, measures on career development and cuts to working time.
Concern over collective agreement after electricity merger
The SSP public service union is concerned about maintaining a collective agreement covering network employees following a merger between two network companies EOS and ATEL. While a collective agreement currently covers EOS employees, there is no agreement at ATEL nor any negotiations between the employer and trade unions. The management of EOS have indicated a commitment to continuing social dialogue but the possibility of a negotiating a new agreement from 2010 will depend on a new management team including managers from ATEL with no experience of collective bargaining. Confederations maintain protests
A national demonstration on 4 June will be the latest step in the continuing trade union protests against austerity measures. The GSEE private sector and ADEDY public sector confederations have called the protest highlighting the impact of the attacks on pay and pensions across the economy and the undermining of collective bargaining.
