The FSAP-CCOO public service federation has signed a new framework agreement with CONBÉ, an association of fire service consortia that covers around 4,000 firefighters across 2,000 municipalities. The agreement covers training and aims to improve the way that fire services deal with the health and safety of firefighters.

Union signs local agreements covering firefighters
In March the STAL local government union signed two new agreements with local fire associations in Vila de Rei and Covilhã. The agreement with the Vila de Rei association includes a pay structure setting down rates for shift work and for working on rest days and holidays. It also includes a new career framework. A range of other provisions cover other allowances and annual paid leave of 25 days. The Covilhã agreement also sets out the main working conditions for firefighters in terms of careers, shift systems, allowances for travel and holidays. In addition there was a €74 increase on pay. Unions sign agreement on training for firefighters
Following the signature in January of a framework agreement on training and safety, the FSP-UGT and FSAP-CCOO public service union federations have signed a specific agreement on training with CONBE, an association representing fire and emergency services. The aim of the agreement is to establish a standard national system of professional qualifications for firefighters. As CONBE does not represent all fire and emergency service, the trade unions see this as the first step towards securing an agreement with the autonomous regions and the FEMP, the association covering municipalities.
