The FO civil service federation has called on its members to take strike action and join a national demonstration on 23 October in support of continuing union demands for pay increases to compensate for rising prices. The union is also campaigning against cuts in the public sector workforce, with over 30,000 job cuts in 2008, and the imposition of the new RGPP public sector policy that foresees significant budget cuts.

General strike planned for 23 February
The ADEDY public sector and GSEE private sector confederations have called a further day of strike action for 23 February. The confederations are continuing their campaigns of resistance against the policies implemented by the government and called for by the European Commission and International Monetary Fund. Along with attacks on the pay and pensions of public sector workers, ADEDY and GSEE are also protesting against changes in the law that are undermining collective bargaining and collective agreements. Unions plan action for 23 March
Public service federations are planning to take action on 23 March in protest at a range of government policies that threaten to undermine the public services and the pay and conditions of public services workers and reduce pension entitlement. The CGT, FSU, CFDT, UNSA and Solidaires unions and federations have issued a call for strike action on the day with a list of key concerns covering employment conditions, job cuts, threatened increases to the pension age and cuts in public finances.
