Unions will call for re-opening of negotiations over three-year deal

Health sector unions are preparing a submission to the pay review body (the independent organisation that deals with pay and conditions in the health service) arguing that talks should re-open on the current three-year pay deal because of rising inflation. The agreement runs from 1 April 2008 and provides for annual increases of 2.75%, 2.54% and 2.5% but unions maintain that inflation is already higher than the 2% assumption in the agreement and so increases in 2009 and 2010 should be reviewed.
