The 60,000 employees covered by the University Medical Centres collective agreement will see their pay increase in three stages between now and 2010. The 2008 increase of 2.1% will be followed by two increases of 1.955 in March 2009 and March 2010. There will also be increases in the end-of-year payments worth 1% in 2008, 1.5% in 2009 and 1.55% in 2010. The agreement runs from 1 January 2008 to 1 March 2011.

Two-year deal in university medical centres
A new two-year agreement has been negotiated to cover the 67000 workers employed by University Medical Centres. There will be a 1% pay increase on 1 October 2013 and a further 1% on 1 August 2014 along with a €500 payment to protect purchasing power. Staff development was also part of the negotiations and each worker's personal budget will be increased from 1.3% to 1.5% of pay with workers also allowed to use the budget for more time off. Union prepares for bargaining in University Medical Centres
The collective agreement covering 80000 employees in University Medical Centres is due to expire at the end of the year and the FNV trade union has begun consulting workers over the main demands that should feature in the upcoming negotiations. The union is particularly concerned that action is needed to improve conditions for permanent employees and tackle the impact of poor rosters and excessive workloads that lead to absenteeism and high turnover of staff. Health unions have negotiated a new 32-month agreement covering 70000 employees in University Medical Centres. The agreement is backdated to 1 April this year and runs until 1 January 2018 and includes long-term provisions to increase the employment of people with disabilities with 215 taken on this year and 895 by end of 2018 and regular increases beyond that. Temporary jobs will be converted into permanent ones and there will be guaranteed minimum hours and so an end to zero-hour contracts.
