(November 2016) The Sanitas health union has been maintaining its protests and picketing of the Ministry of Health in support of the negotiations for a new collective agreement. The union wants to see a number of key improvements in the agreement and compliance with regulations on additional pay for night and weekend work. The union has also raised the question of equal pay for equal work, highlighting examples where health staff doing the same job are paid different rates depending on the institution they work for.

Health unions ready to mobilise in support of negotiations at non-profit provider
The Fp-Cgil, Cisl-FP and Uil-Fpl public service federations are ready to mobilise their members unless the management at the Misercordie non-profit health and social service provider responds to their main demands. Health and social care unions continue mobilisations
Health and social care trade unions are taking action in January, following mobilisations at the end of 2020, calling on the government to ensure that its “Ségur de Santé” package of measures applies to all occupations in health and social care and across both public and private sectors. The package included two specific pay increases to be implemented in September last year and this coming March. Unions want to ensure that all workers benefit but they also want to see action in other areas such as recruitment and staffing levels.
Health sector negotiations continue
The Sanitas health trade union is continuing negotiations with the government and ministry of health over a range of issues including ensuring full funding is available to cover pay increases for 2019. Other key points relate to extra leave for healthcare workers and ensuring all in the sector benefit from pay increases. The union is also concerned that certain specific categories of higher qualified occupations such as pharmacists and psychologists are on the appropriate levels of the pay structure. Sanitas is positive about making progress.
