(May 2016) Following strike action last month, the SDE Slovenije energy union, has secured an agreement from the government that any planned restructuring of the energy industry would be subject to social dialogue with the union. The union took industrial action in reaction to recent trends where the government had been taking unilateral decisions about the electricity sector while failing to fully honour agreements signed with the union. Ver.di secures jobs commitment from EON
Energy union ver.di and the EON group works council have negotiated a compromise agreement with the company to protect jobs and working conditions for most of EON’s 40,000 employees in Germany. The company’s planned “perform-to-win” savings programme threatened job cuts and other major changes across the group. The agreement means that jobs, collective agreements, training provision and pensions will be protected until 2012. Union secures commitment to more prison staff
Following a meeting with the justice minister, the prisons section of the GÖD public service union has announced that the government is committed to create 75 new jobs and 100 training places to tackle the excessive workloads faced across the prison service. The talks also discussed the prospects for a quicker and more effective process for appointing prison staff and a plan for an expert study of the sector that would assist in drawing up standard safety guidelines.
