Abvakabo, CNV Publieke Zaak and NU’91 have negotiated a new 24-month collective agreement in a difficult bargaining environment, with the government talking about cuts to the health budget. There will be a 1% pay increase on 1 October 2009 and another 1% on 1 August 2010. The year end bonus payment will be worth 5.25% of salary in 2009 and 5.75% of salary in 2010 while there will also be a 0.65% lump sum payment. New flexible working hours arrangements will be introduced along with improved work-life balance provisions that will allow employees to use or save an extra 35 hours of leave. The proposed agreement will be put to members for approval.

Unions negotiate deal for mental health workers
A new 22-month agreement covering 80,000 workers in the mental health sector will be put to members for approval. The three main unions have secured a 3.25% overall pay increase that includes a 0.75% rise in August 2011, with a 0.25% one-off payment (minimum €25) in November and an additional 0.5% on the end-of-year bonus in December. In 2012 there will be a 1% increase in salaries in September, another 0.25% (minimum €25) payment and the end-of-year bonus will rise by another 0.5% taking it to 6.75%. Two-year deal for youth service workers
The 26,000 employees in the youth welfare sector see their pay increase by 3.5% as from 1 May this year with a further rise of 3.0% from 1 May 2009. The new two-year agreement also provides for the integration of the annual lump sum payment so that from 2009 it will be paid as a 13th month salary. Two-year deal in the waste sector
A new two-year agreement covering the waste and environment sector has been agreed with a 1.25% pay increase in April of 2006 and April 2007. The agreement runs until 1 May 2007 and includes the provision for 50 work placements for the young unemployed. Read more at > ABVAKABO
