(August 2016) The NSF nurses' union is hoping that mediation will resolve its dispute with the NHO Service private employers' organisation. The NSF is concerned that the pay and conditions offered by NHO Service employers are falling behind those in the public sector, with pay rises in particular failing to keep up with those negotiated with the KS public sector employers' organisation. NHO Service did not respond to the NSF's claims at the latest negotiations and so mediation is due to take place at the end of August. If the mediation is unsuccesful then the NSF will conside strike action from 2 September. Read more at NSF (NO).

Strike possible in private nurseries if mediation fails
EPSU affiliates, Fagforbundet and Delta, are involved in negotiations in the private nursery sector. There is currently a process of mediation but if this fails then the unions will organise strike action. They want to make sure that the increase in the private sector is line with that already agreed in the municipal sector and so far the employers have not made an adequate offer. The unions are concerned that the church has failed to negotiate a transition agreement in line with many other employers, following recent legislative changes. Instead the church appears to want to reduce employment conditions as a way to compensate for delivering the new transition agreement. Kommunal has announced that it will initiate a dispute on 22 April if there is no agreement, starting with industrial action and building to potential strike action on 27 April.
Nursing and care negotiations head for mediation
Negotiations in the private nursing and care sector have ended without agreement and so now move into mediation. The trade union position is to try to ensure that occupations are paid at similar levels irrespective of the collective agreement in place but there is not employer commitment to do this. Public service union Fagforbundet acknowledges that there will always be some variations between agreements but is concerned that major differences are becoming systematic. It points out that a cleaner in private nursing and care has a minimum wage of NOK 258000 (EUR 24000) which is around NOK
