Trade unions representing around 100,000 employees in the state sector have set out their main demands for this year’s collective bargaining round. Equal pay is a key element with a call for 0.25% of the wage bill to be set aside to deal with the 8% gender pay gap. YS Stat is arguing for workers to be put on a higher pay grade when they return from parental leave to ensure that time away from work doesn’t impact on their progression up the pay scale. Unions are also concerned to keep up with pay in the private sector, where average pay is around NOK 11200 (€1420) higher than in the public sector.

(October 2016) Unions in the public sector have set out their bargaining demands and reacted to the government's budget proposals, which they say don't go far enough to rrestoring cuts to pay and conditions since 2011. Higher salary increases, ensuring all workers across the public services are ensured a return to the 35-hour week and unfreezing career progression are among the main demands. Unions in the Frente Comum will be mobilising for a national demonstration on 18 November to support their claim.
Federation sets out main demands for 2007
The FNSFP public services federation has agreed on a list of key demands for its collective negotiations in 2007. It is looking for a general pay increase of 5% across public administration with a minimum rise of €50 a month. Confederation sets out main bargaining demands
The KESK public sector confederation has set out its main demands for the public sector negotiations that started at the beginning of August. The priority will be restoring the 8.5% loss in purchasing power for public sector workers over the last two years and along with a further increase to cover inflation that the confederation estimates to be higher than 50% in contrast to the official figure of just over 30%.
