On behalf of the European Social Dialogue Committee in Central Government Administrations, we are pleased to invite you to our conference “Improving the Image of Central Government Administrations in Europe”.

The conference is the final stage of a one-year EU-funded project, to which some of you and your members have already contributed.

Against a backdrop of public spending cuts, the conference aims to discuss the final research findings and recommendations, exchange views on good or not so good practices and policies that contribute to or prevent a good image of our sector as a public service provider and an employer.

It will also be an opportunity to provide inputs to a trade union/employer draft policy document on principles and commitments for a good administration based on the abovementioned research and related discussions in the Social Dialogue Committee earlier this year.

The conference will take place at the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic in Prague.

The event will start on 4 October at 8.30 a.m. and finish on 5 October at 5 p.m.

A draft programme will reach you shortly that will consist of plenaries and workshops with presentations from social partners, academics and public officials.

Other meeting documents will be sent nearer the date of the conference, including the final project research report by Dr Robert Sobiech and abovementioned policy document.

The conference is addressed to members of the social dialogue committee as well as other relevant individuals and organisations interested in the topic such as EUPAN—the informal EU network of public administrations. Additionally, we encourage you to invite the employees and managers who have contributed to the project’s online questionnaire.

The conference venue has capacity for up to 100 delegates. Travel (up to € 350) and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed for up to 27 TUNED and 27 EUPAN delegates, on the basis of 2 country delegates or more if not all member states are represented. Final decision on reimbursements will be left to the discretion of the project steering group.

Interpretation will be available in English, French, German, Czech, Greek, Finnish, Italian and Spanish (to be confirmed in light of the registration) in plenary and two of the four workshops.

The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic is located in the Letná district of Prague, close to the Prague Castle. Practical information concerning the conference venue, hotel and area maps is enclosed.

Please register using the enclosed registration form by 28 August at the very latest.

Block booking has been made at Parkhotel Praha and Hotel Expo. We kindly request you to make your own hotel reservation. Please see enclosed practical information.

Dinner and lunches will be provided for the whole duration of your stay on 4 and 5 October.

Should you have any questions or remarks please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Prague as well as to a fruitful conference.
