"Third Party Violence at Work" 14 March 2008

Multi-Sectoral Social Dialogue meeting

“Third Party Violence at Work”

14 March 2008, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Brussels

Violence and Harassment at work is high on the European Union Agenda. The social
partners in sectors like the local and regional government sector, commerce, the
hospital and the private security sector have jointly expressed their wish to explore
whether it would be possible and useful to complement the cross-sectoral agreement
from a more specific sectoral and/or multi-sectoral point of view. To this end, and to
promote an exchange of good practices and collection of concrete experiences, a oneday
multi-sectoral seminar on the topic of third party violence will be organised by the
Commission.

We have the pleasure to invite you herewith to this meeting on 14 March 2008 in
Brussels. The meeting is open to standing committee members and/or health & safety
experts of the trade unions active in the Hospital Sector Social Dialogue and Local and
Regional Government Committee. Members of the National and European
Administration and Public Utilities Committees will be informed separately.

We would like to notify that we have not yet received an official invitation for this
meeting from the Commission. Practical details concerning the reimbursement of the
travel costs and the interpretation facilities will therefore follow. Reimbursement
facilities are in principle only available for representatives from European Union
Member States.

Please take also into account that the number of reimbursed seats available is
relatively limited. To achieve a good coverage of the different European countries and
sectors and maintain a good gender balance in our delegation, EPSU reserves the
right to select the delegates eligible for reimbursement.

If you are interested to participate, please fill in the attached participation form and
return it by 12 February 2008 at the very latest.

An important part of the seminar is reserved for presentations and debates concerning
social partner experiences and ideas. Social partners from the different sectors have
been requested by the Commission to present case studies at the meeting. In order to
give input to this debate as hospital and local and regional government social partners,
we would like to ask you to inform us about any interesting joint initiatives on third party violence at local, regional or national level in your sector. A template has been attached
to this invitation to facilitate you in the collection of the examples.

Please send us your examples by the 18th of January 2008, and let us know also,
whether you would be available to give a presentation on this example, jointly with the
employers at the seminar.
