There we go Luxembourg !

(20 June 2011) This week EPSU is going to be very busy. There are a number of events taking place, that are key with decisions being made for the future of Europe.

Tomorrow we will demonstrate in Luxembourg against the proposals prepared by European Finance Ministers and the European Commission on economic governance in that city. On Thursday the European Parliament will vote this policy package and on Friday the Council will have the final showdown of the process with an agreement of the Europact plus at the highest level.

We have been demonstrating, campaigning and lobbying against these proposals since September 2010. We will continue to do so, and we will say it loud and clear: these proposals will destroy social Europe. They will affect the livelihoods of working people who have not caused this crisis. We will continue to reject this austerity.

EPSU believes that there is an alternative and also this week we will be mobilising for the Financial Transaction Tax on Wednesday, 22 June. This Global Day of Action will see dozens of different actions so financial speculators and bankers start paying their share for the crisis.
The following day, 23 June, we will remind to the world that our societies need Quality Public Services to develop societies in a fair and socially just way!

We are and we will continue to be at the forefront of this struggle!

Hoping for a good week of mobilization
