Suez EWC meets, 23 June 2004

The EWC held its preparatory meeting in Paris. Its agenda included reporting back from the energy, water and waste activities as well as the work of the Steering Committee of the EWC. The EWC mandated the representatives in the Steering Committee of the Health and Safety working group (with management) to issue an ultimatum in case reporting on and implementation of the health an safety charter would not improve considerably.

A report was given by the trade union “expert comptable” of the financial situation of the company, including on the different activities (energy: financial healthy situation - waste: negative developments in several countries - water: problems in the international markets).

The EWC also considered the situation in SITA Ost (Germany) again. No progress has been made in the negotiations. Next round foreseen for 8 July. The EWC will indicate its dissatisfaction to management.

The EWC also discussed the progress made during the negotiations on an amended agreement. It noted that insufficient progress was made on a number of subjects.
