(26 June 2018) Trade unions and works council representatives from Belgium, France, Italy and Germany met for the first time in the Special Negotiating Body (SNB) in order to establish a European Works Council (EWC) in the French-based care company KORIAN. The EWC is the place to be informed and consulted about the policies of the company and to work on improving working conditions of the people employed by KORIAN. The SNB members were given a training session by the European Trade Union Institute before discussing the composition of the SNB and the process of negotiations. Then, together with KORIAN’s central management, the SNB looked at the scope of the company (which companies belong to the geographic and to the consolidated sphere) as well as a list of issues to be considered at next meeting (scope of the agreement, issues to be negotiated, etc.). The second SNB meeting will be organised after the summer break.

KORIAN is a French multinational company in the care sector. The meeting took place on 25/26 June 2018 in Paris, France. Guillaume Durivaux, EPSU policy officer for company policy and EWCs participated in the meeting.
