(18 October 2021) Following the attack on the head office of the Italian confederation CGIL by the fascists, Italian and European workers know what is at stake. The values and policies of fascism are an attack on workers, workers’ and trade union and human rights and the democratic values. Unions across Europe and the world showed their solidarity 16 October. The Italian confederations UIL CISL and CGIL organised a demonstration and more than hundred thousand people joined in. There was a large European delegation led by the ETUC. There were protest actions elsewhere in Italy and across Europe. EPSU staff joined protests in Brussels and in Kiev. EPSU and many affiliates have sent messages of support to CGIL.
