(2 February 2022) The ALTER-EU steering committee, together with 18 organisations, sent today a letter to Commissioner V. Jourova to demand action on the revised EU Transparency Register.
EPSU and many organisations sent a joint letter to European Commissioner Vera Jourova addressing some concerning loopholes regarding the implementation of the revised EU Lobby Transparency Register. The organisations urged the European Commission to take immediate action to boost lobby transparency.
In the letter, EPSU and other organisations welcomed the introduction into the register of a distinction between commercial and non-commercial organisations. They also supported the requirement that non-commercial organisations declare an annual budget and information regarding large donors. However, they stressed that it is patently unfair that this provision does not concretely apply to other types of organisations, including trade associations, religious bodies and others, as well as NGOs and think tanks.
