GdFSuez European Works Council considers new EWC agreement and transformation of company

(4 June 2013) The European Works Council reached unanimous agreement with management on a new agreement. This agreement was necessary following the deconsolidation of Suez Environment which will no longer be fully integrated and hence needs to set up its EWC. The new agreement contains much of the old agreement but has been adapted in scope, meetings of working groups and secretariat reflecting a smaller remaining group. The EWC also received a report on the ongoing negotiations for a new EWC agreement in Suez Environment. The commitment to ensure a very similar agreement as in GdfSuez was reinforced.

The EWC also discussed the socalled Performance 2015 plan which could lead to substantial job losses according to union sources. It received a presentation of its experts provided by SECAFI. This allowed the EWC to pose a series of questions to management. The results of the first three months of 2013 are available and indicate that the company is pursuing its strategy.

The EWC also welcomed the new colleague from Internationa Power in the EWC and noted that social dialogue between the unions in the UK and management of SITA UK has received a new impulse.
The EWC took place 28-30 May 2013, Paris and included a preparatory and a de-briefing meeting.
