Fackförbundet ST executive comes to Brussels for NEA update

(19 March 2009, Brussels) The Swedish Union of Civil Servants; Fackforbundet ST , brought its Executive Committee to Brussels this week for an intensive EU training session. It was the first time that the 80,000 strong union had sent the Executive on an EU study trip.

EPSU sent National Administration (NEA) Officer Nadja Salson to give a detailed briefing on the updates in the sector. The EPSU officer explained the Social Dialogue process including the follow-up to statement on stress at work meeting on 19 March. This would be based on the collection of case studies with an emphasis on social dialogue and prevention methods. It is slated to form part of the NEA work under the Swedish EU Presidency.

The Conference on trust will take place on 29-30 April. Research reports on the “role of social dialogue in anticipating and managing change” in 15 EU and candidate countries ( incl. Sweden) would be outlined. Discussions on information, consultation rights, transparency, equality and diversity and training were taking place with a view to a joint statement on importance of social dialogue at times of changes in time for 19 June plenary meeting

A workshop on the financial and economic crisis is set for 27 May, and one on Migration is set for autumn 2009.

ST President, and EPSU Executive Committee member, Annette Carnhede (pictured) called the meeting; “a very valuable and interesting exchange between ST representatives and EPSU”.

The ST Executive also received an overview of general EPSU work from Communication Officer Brian Synnott.
