European trade unions top ITUC Climate change Lobby week

Ivan Kokalov

(9 June 2015) Australia, Belgium, Canada, the ABC of the union movement are present in the union lobby week, following the Spanish, Finnish and Norwegian unions.

Belgian unions have not met one, nor two Ministers, but FOUR during the lobby week…! Splendid job!
Thanks to ACV/CSC and FGTB/ABVV for their commitment!

Spanish unions CCOO and UGT are topping the list of #unions4climate actions: they have joined a flashmob calling for renewable energies, launched a manifesto with civil society allies under the #alianzaporelclima, and handed the letter to the Spanish negotiators to the UNFCCC. Bravo!
Thank you CC.OO and UGT!

Thanks to the Finnish unions Finland considers that the Principles of the Article 3 under the Framework Agreement meaning the Gender sensitivity of Climate Actions, Respect for Human Rights, Just Transition and Decent Work should be important guiding principles of the New Agreement and should be included in the Agreement itself.
Well done!

Norwegian unions were the first in Europe to take climate action this week! Super!

On 4th June, a delegation from the trade union CITUB met the Bulgarian Environment Minister, Ivelina Vassileva.

All unions have sent in their pictures that you can see in the ITUC Storify feed here or in the dedicated Lobby week section in the ITUC website

If you have not joined, remember, you can simply join the week by expressing your support to climate action with a ‘no jobs on a dead planet’ photo as well !
