European Federation of Public Service Unions and Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung kindly invite you to attend the EPSU/FES Seminar on Fighting Corruption in Public Services (Croatia, Zagreb, 30-31 October 2012).
It is not necessary to stress how dangerous endemic corruption is for the economy, state and democracy. The fight against corruption is one of the most important task when it comes to the increase of tax collection and the elocation of tax payer´s money. Public service trade unions will gain a lot of reputation and strength in their struggle for public workers rights if they are at the forefront combating corruption.
The main objectives of the seminar is to discuss the following topics:
- State of corruption in participating countries.
- How to fight corruption in the public sector?
- What can public service unions do?
- The most important elements of a common action plan.
The meeting will be held in Croatia, Zagreb, Four Points by Sheraton Panorama Hotel, Trg Krešimira Ćosića 9.
It will start on 30 October 2012 at 9,00 and finish on 31 October 2012 at 15:00. Participants are expected to arrive on 29 October 2012 in the afternoon/evening and depart on 31 October 2012 in the afternoon/evening.
Draft Programme of the meeting and Questionnaire for the Country Reports are enclosed.
According to the conference capacity limits we invite 2 representatives of each trade union.
Organisers will arrange hotel services (accommodation, food, meeting room, technical equipment) and the interpretation (Croatian-English). According to financial possibilities some travel costs could be reimbursed as well but country delegations are requested to travel together by cars.
Please note that the hotel services and where relevant travel costs will be reimbursed for unions that are in order with their PSI/EPSU affiliation fees including for 2012.
Please confirm participation of your representatives to the EPSU Regional Office in Prague ([email protected]) and to the FES Regional Office in Belgrade ([email protected]) by returning the attached Participation Form and the completed Questionnaire as soon as possible (but by 10 October 2012 at the latest).
