International Youth Day
(23 August 2022) International Youth Day (IYD) is an awareness day designated by the United Nations. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth. The first IYD was observed on 12 August, 2000. IYD was designated by the United Nations in 1999 with the adoption of Resolution 54/120.
The EPSU Youth Network has existed since 2010 and it has always used the day to raise awareness of youth and work-related issues. This year the network celebrated with a video that was widely distributed on social media to highlight the need for unions to focus on young members!
