EPSU working group shows solidarity with Ukrainian workers

Unions across Europe support Ukrainian workers against brutal proposals to change labour law

(24 January 2019) The EPSU Working group considering the role of the EPSU-vice-presidents and processes of elections used the opportunity to show their solidarity with the Ukrainian workers. The workers and their unions are opposing the changes to the Labour law which would take away many workers’ rights and give the employer more say over their working life.

The working group was set up by the Executive Committee to reflect what can be improved and if that requires constitutional changes or not. Participants exchanged views seeking common ground to clarify the rules. The secretariat will draft proposals for the changes on which the constituencies can consult. A further meeting is foreseen for later this year. The group was chaired by EPSU senior-vice-president Francoise Geng with the participation of the EPSU General Secretary. It took place on 23 January 2020 in Brussels.
