EPSU supports call for transparency by Portuguese Council Presidency

(17 December 2020) EPSU has signed an open letter to the upcoming Portuguese EU Council Presidency on corporate influence and transparency. The letter, coordinated by Corporate Europe Observatory and Transparência e Integridade, Associação Cívica (Transparency International Portugal), sets out a series of demands regarding corporate influence, lobby transparency, accountability, and democratic reform. 

The Presidency of the Council is a hugely important role as it decides what topics will be discussed and decided upon by the 27 member states. It is clear that the Portuguese Presidency will be important in determining the EU's response to the climate emergency, the coronavirus pandemic, and the future of the rule of law in Europe, and the letter calls for robust action on these points. 

The letter was signed by 60+ civil society organisations and trade unions. You can read the full letter here
