(10 December 2013) A delegation from the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) joined a protest organized by several European Trade Union Federations against social dumping. The European Council was discussing the enforcement of posting Directive and we are opposing a bad compromise that will endanger workers rights across Europe.
EPSU will continue to mobilise to ensure that free circulation does not become social dumping.
The three public service federations Fp-Cgil, Cisl-Fp and Uil-Fpl coordinated a one-day strike on 27 September against the AIOP private health and social care employers’ organisation in protest at its refusal to negotiate with them and to negotiate instead with the unrepresentative UGL trade union. The federations issued the strike warning back in July after conciliation failed to resolve the dispute with AIOP and since then the employers have failed to return to negotiations. The three federations will also mobilise during the day to put pressure on regional health authorities to take action
The FNV Transport and Logistics trade union has won an important legal victory to ensure that Hungarian drivers working for the Dutch haulier Van den Bosch Transporten get the pay and conditions set by the sector agreement. The company had been using its Hungarian branch as a subcontractor with Hungarian drivers flown into the Netherlands to drive Hungarian vehicles and paid Hungarian wages. The European Transport Workers' Federation sees this as an important case, saying that the Posted Workers Directive is underused in the sector but can provide some protection against social dumping.
