Collective Agreements "Your unseen asset" – Swedish TCO campaign shows instant benefits of collective bargaining

(21 October, Stockholm) With EPSU affiliate SKTF in the forefront, the Swedish Trade Union centre TCO has released a campaign showing how collective agreements benefit their members. The campaign which is introduced by a national TV/cinema ad shows exactly how being in a trade union benefits workers.

Instant calculation of your benefits

The homepage of the campaign allows the members to see the exact amount of Swedish Kroner that they have gained by being part of a collective agreement. The calculator allows the TCO members to select their monthly salary, their overtime per month, and the number of years working in the organization, and instantly see the benefit to them.

The campaign figures are based on the 14 collective agreements agreed over the last year and illustrate how trade union membership has a positive impact on members pay.

SKTF President Eva Nordmark stated that; “this campaign gives members an instant answer to the question ‘why join a union’?”

Union report highlights benefits of collective bargaining

The Fórsa public services trade union has published a new report to support its call on the government to “harness the productive power of sectoral bargaining” which it argues will improve wage levels and pay equality. Survey shows positive developments in collective bargaining

Czech Republic

(August 2016) A survey of collective agreements across the Czech Republic for 2014-2015 shows ear-on-year, there was a significant increase in the number of collective agreements containing commitments on overall wage increases and commitments to increase salary tariffs. The survey also looked at salary bonuses and benefits as well as working hours and holidays where there were no significant developments over the period covered. Read more at Eurofound.
