Central European/Western Balkan unions discuss cost of living, prepare for Congress

(21 September 2022) The union leaders exchanged information on the increasing cost of living and the union actions to improve pay for workers and to ensure people can meet those costs. Czech and Slovak unions will have a demonstration on 8 October fore example. Other actions are foreseen in the frame of the ETUC month of action in October.

The unions elected Ivana Brenkova as chair of the constituency. Boris Plesa retired. Ivana was the co-chair and is member of the EPSU Executive Committee and the EPSU health and social services standing committee. Vladimir Pavičeć of the Health trade union in Montenegro was elected co-chair. Both were elected unanimously. The union group further made the nominations for the constitutional working group and the resolutions committee. Cost of living and organising and recruitment were seen as important topics for congress.
