Alternative Economic and Financial Council argues for different approach

It is time for a different macro-economic approach argued several speakers at this Alternative EcoFin held in Vienna, 5-6 April. Organised as an alternative to the European Council of Ministers for Economy and Finance (EcoFin), participants sought to develop different approaches from the neo-liberal orthodoxy which is currently dominant in Europe. Several workshops were organised on macro-economic policy and finance, on European wage coordination and globalisation. EPSU Deputy General Secretary participated in a workshop on public services, outlining the many challenges to public services in Europe and the EPSU campaign on public services as an alternative. The event was organised by the Austrian organisation of ATTAC, the EuroMemorandum group, Austrian trade union confederation of OGB, Arbeitkammer and others.
