Training, Energy roadmaps 2050, Equality considered at plenary

(7 December 2011)

The trade union side made a proposal regarding the development of a so-called framework of actions on skills and qualifications based on the work of the social partners on a number of issues in the past. Members decided to continue this work focusing on the concrete contents, the priorities and the follow up to be given to the framework of actions. A next discussion will take place in March 2012.

A representative of the European Commission DG Energy gave an overview of the forthcoming Communication on the Energy road map 2050 and the different scenarios the Commission has been working on. The social partners stressed that the Energy road map is to take account of the social dimension and reflect the just transition principles as agreed in Cancun. An earlier and leaked version of the roadmap is available on EPSU website

A representative of the Italian Ministry of Labour made a presentation on the joint agreements between unions and employers on equality issues. The sectoral social dialogue Committee agreed to consider the follow up to the joint position and toolkit.

The plenary committee also agreed a joint position on nuclear safety which could play a role in the process of the stress tests.

The meeting took place on 6 December 2011 in Brussels. EPSU was represented by colleagues from Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, UK and the EPSU Deputy General Secretary.
