(8 October 2009) The social dialogue committee agreed to seek involvement in the work being done by the European Commission on the development of the energy road maps 2050. The energy road maps consider the long-term future of Europe’s energy system. The importance of considering the longer term strategy was already raised in the EPSU Contribution to the Commission’s Green Paper. The social dimension is to be an important aspect of this project.

The position refers to the joint study Describing Developments in the European electricity industry – drivers for change 2007 and draws joint conclusions.
CSR is about commitments which go beyond respecting the law and recognized international standards. The Statement is the first continental and sectoral wide position that endorses the Global Reporting Initiative (...)

(11 March 2009) The European Commission presented the agreement on the Emission Trading Scheme as reached between the Council and the European Parliament December 2008. It has become a complex piece of legislation with several different time frames, derogations, unfinished business and as it links with the proposals to share the burden of the efforts to reduce emissions.
