(4 August 2009) The above framework agreement was signed by Karen Jennings, EPSU Chair of the Health and Social Services Committee, and Godfrey Pereira, General Secretary of HOSPEEM, the European Hospital and Healthcare Employers’ Association on 17 July in the presence of Employment and Social Affairs Commissioner Vladimir Spidla and Anne-Marie Perret, EPSU President. Further to the meeting of the Executive Committee on 8 June, please find attached the final proposal for a framework agreement between EPSU and HOSPEEM on prevention from medical sharp injuries in the hospital and healthcare sector (version revised visible and version clean).
The agreement has been screened by the European Commission in order to enable it to be transposed into a European directive and thus legally binding in all the member states.

(21 January 2009, Brussels) Representatives of the European Hospital Social Partners met with the European Commission for high level talks on the upcoming ‘Sharp Injuries’ negotiations. The Social Partners (EPSU for hospital employees and Employers’ Organisation HOSPEEM) met with Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs Vladimir Spidla on 20 January.
