(7 March, 2007) The effect of clear, simple, targets on the public service petition were illustrated yesterday. On 6 March, EPSU affiliate CC.OO (Confederación Sindical de Comisiones Obreras) www.ccoo.es launched their nation wide campaign on the petition. The results were immediate. By end of the day, 4,833 visits from Spain had been logged to www.petitionpublicservice.eu. (February 27 Madrid) Spanish EPSU affiliates, CCOO and UGT have joined forces to declare a massive demonstration in defence of public services . The demo specifically targets the Madrid region and is set to take place on 22 March.
The announcement comes as FSP UGT today realeased their official support of www.petitionpublicservice.eu

For the next 12 weeks, EPSU and its 200+ affiliates, will be making the ETUC petition on public services our number one priority. We aim, in association with the ETUC - here, here, here and here - the other European Trade Union Federations, and our growing list of allies, to reach our target of one million signatures by the start of the ETUC congress in Seville on 21-24 May. Los servicios públicos son esenciales para la cohesión social, económica y regional de Europa. Estos servicios deben ser de gran calidad y accesibles para todos(as) los(as) ciudadanos(as). Hasta ahora, las privatizaciones o las liberalizaciones (especialmente en los sectores de energía, correos y telecomunicaciones) eran las únicas alternativas propuestas para el desarrollo de los servicios públicos. ¡Es tiempo de encontrar otras soluciones!
