Estonia stages www.petitionpublicservice.eu event

(8 March, Tallinn) EPSU affiliate ROTAL have staged a ’signing drive’ and public demonstration as part of the Quality Public Service - Quality of Life campaign. The event, which took place on 8 March, was a concerted effort to get signatures for the ETUC petition on public services. I am proud to say that I have signed the petition calling for a legal instrument for public services at the EU level. For the next 12 weeks, EPSU and its 200+ affiliates, will be making the ETUC petition on public services our number one priority. We aim, in association with the ETUC - find your national confederation here and here - the other European Trade Union Federations, and our growing list of allies, to reach our target of one million signatures by the start of the ETUC congress in Seville on 21-24 May.

Baltic public service unions push European petition

(12 February 2007) The leaders of the Baltic public service unions pledged to get many signatures for the public service petition of the ETUC. Health, state, municipal, energy and other public services unions recognise the importance of obtaining more then a million signatures in favour of a European initiative to promote quality public services.
