Hungarian electricity unions organising for strikes
(10 March 2008) The Hungarian trade unions including EPSU affiliate VdSzSz are preparing for strike action as the employers refuse to share with workers the increases in productivity and mega-profits.
An ultimatum of the trade unions passess 10 March.
EPSU has sent a letter of solidarity.

Energie- und Sozialminister aus Südosteuropa haben heute, Donnerstag, in Wien ein Abkommen mit der Europäischen Kommission unterzeichnet, das den Sozialbereich zu einem Grundanliegen der europäischen Energiegemeinschaft macht. Unterzeichnet haben Minister aus den Balkanstaaten und der Europäische Kommissär für Energiefragen, Andris Piebalgs.

Bulgarian energy unions take action 3 and 12 May
The Bulgarian energy unions of Podkrepa and CITUB and EPSU affiliates, are organising regional and national action on 3 and 12 May. They protest plans of the government to privatise electricity distribution companies. The public service comes under pressure. There are no solid guarantees for employment, pay and conditions. EPSU has sent a message of support to our Bulgarian colleagues and letters of protest to the Bulgarian government arguing to withdraw the plans. The Bulgarian colleagues (...)
French energy unions strike against privatisation, 8 April 2004
The French energy unions, EPSU affiliates FO-FNEM, CGT-FNME and CFCT-Energie included, are organising a national day of action with strikes and manifestations against the proposed law to privatise the electricity company EDF, 8 April. Several unions argue that earlier promises are not met. EPSU sent a message of solidarity.

French electricity and gas unions take action, 20 January 2004
The French trade unions in the electricity and gas sector including EPSU affiliated unions CGT-FNME and FO-FNEM have called for a day of action to support their wage and employment demands. The day of action takes place on 20 January 2004. It will lead to strikes and other work stoppages.
