Our latest newsletter highlights just some of the developments for unions in Europe, in what has been once again a packed two weeks for EPSU. Today colleagues attended the second national demonstration in as many weeks in Brussels, which form part an action plan by the Belgian confederations against the government’s spending cuts and attacks on existing labour laws. In other news, EPSU has expressed solidarity with Italian unions striking in the public and private waste industry, has backed the ITUC and ETUC in their call for a swift humanitarian response to the refugee crisis and has given support to new proposals from MEPs to tackle energy poverty in Europe. Stories also include the latest on tax avoidance and the robin hood tax, a new EPSU position paper on smart public services in a digital age and what we expect of the new EU undeclared work platform.
