French trade union confederation follows EPSU call on action day

(17 November 2011) One of the biggest French trade union confederation, the Conféderation Générale du Travail (CGT), through its public sector federation (UGFF-CGT), has decided to call for a Day of Action for public services following the decision of the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) to organize a European day of action. EPSU salutes this decision to create a sense a European-wide mobilization.

The appeal demands a change of the economic policies at the European level. The General Secretary of the CGT, Bernard Thibault, says that “it is out of question to accept further austerity”. EPSU has made this call to demand a halt to austerity and to propose a new economic agenda for jobs and growth.

EPSU salutes the initiative and creativity of its affiliates to defend public services.
