European Central Bank staff protest over use of agency staff

(18 July 2016) EPSU sent a solidarity message to members of the IPSO trade union who organised a lunchtime protest at the European Central Bank last Thursday, 14 July. The demonstration was over the Bank’s excessive use of agency staff and moves to outsource services. Between 200 and 250 agency staff have been doing the work of permanent staff, raising serious issues about equal pay for equal work. Johannes Priesemann, President of IPSO, said: “The use of agency staff is not proper for a European institution. The long-serving colleagues need to be taken on board and by compensated for unequal pay by the ECB.”
