EPSU asks European Parliament to intervene over the recognition of Korean Trade Union

(25 October 2013) The Korean government derecognized the Korean Teachers Union because it continued to represent dismissed workers. The government wanted that the union change its rules so they no longer could represent these workers. The union refused. The ILO also made the case that such government interference was illegal. It is therefore high time for the European Parliament to consider the case and explore that the preferential treatment of Korea under the EU-South Korean Trade Agreement is suspended.
