Dear Colleagues, affiliates organizing in the local and regional government sector,
We would like to invite you to participate in the 29th EPSU Standing Committee meeting of Local and Regional Government, which is linked to the EPSU/CEMR conference “Future of the workplace in Local and Regional Government”, and that will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, on 15 and 16 October 2012. A draft agenda of the Standing Committee will follow as soon as possible.
“The future of the workplace in local and regional government” Final Project conference on 15th October 2012
Our closing conference will aim to take stock of the project results and discuss recommendations for Local and Regional Government as Employers’ and Employee, as well as Service Providers and Users.
Organised around the central theme of anticipating change and modernising the local and regional government workplace, our project seeks to support the continuing development of Social Dialogue, and address this overarching theme of ‘Future of the Workplace’ being discussed at local level in the context of current societal, demographic and economic challenges.
This theme is of great importance as severe changes are currently being implemented in local and regional administrations, for example the reduced financial capacities of the sector, demographic and societal changes, changing work patterns and the need for reconciliation of work, family and private life. The successful implementation of sustainable solutions depends therefore on discussions and recommendations by both employers’ and trade unions, which has been thoroughly supported by this project.
This conference will take stock of the main findings from our 6 workshops (Annex 1); each focusing on a specific policy field related to the workplace, and then as a conclusion aim to develop a European Framework of Action for local and regional governments and trade unions.
29th EPSU Standing Committee Meeting 16th October
To facilitate travelling for EPSU affiliates the Final Project Conference will be followed by the 29th EPSU Standing Committee Meeting on 16th of October in the same conference facilities.
We follow-up on following central issues and will circulate a draft agenda as soon as possible.
