Euro Elections Public Service Pledge leaflet launched in 23 Languages
(2 March 2009, Brussels) EPSU have launched the public service pledge leaflet in all 23 EU languages (see bottom of page for your country language!). All 200+ public service trade unions affiliated to EPSU will be encouraged to use the pledge in their campaigns for the European elections (set for June 2009).
EPSU President Anne-Marie Perret stated that; "this leaflet will allow us to check whether European Parliament election candidates mean what they say when it comes to public services".
"We encourage all of our members to ask candidates to sign up to the pledge. This election in this economic climate is too serious a democratic opportunity to waste. The European Union has a profound impact on public services. By helping elect the right European Parliament we can ensure that the impact is a positive one", added the EPSU Presidet.
The EPSU pledge was launched in November 2008. Over 100 sitting MEPS have already signed up to the pledge.
Please go to our interactive map to see which candidates have signed up.
