(17 November 2008) The expected 2nd Strategic Energy Review has been published by the European Commission 13 November 2008. It covers a large amount of issues ranging from energy efficiency in buildings and products, to solidarity between Member states, grid connections, smart metering, an update of the nuclear indicative plans, offshore windpower, oil and gas stocks, gas supplies, combined heat and power etc.

What is missing is a clear recognition of the social aspects of the choices which are made.

The strategic energy review will be on the agenda of the social dialogues in electricity and gas.
