CEMR / EPSU Workshop and Conference on Strengthening Social Dialogue in Local and Regional Government sector, 11 (and 12) December 2008
organised by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) and the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU)
CEMR and EPSU established a European sectoral social dialogue Committee for local and regional government in January 2004. The Committee aims to promote quality local public services based on values of accountability and social responsibility and social partnership at all levels.
As part of the Committee’s work programme, and with the support of the European Commission, we are organising two events in Bratislava, Slovakia on 11 and 12 December 2008:
11 December a workshop for social partner organisations in local and regional government from Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.
12 December a plenary meeting of the sectoral social dialogue Committee for local and regional government. This will be open to participants attending the workshop on 11 December plus members of the Committee and social partner organisations from other European countries. This meeting will replace one of the scheduled plenary meetings of the Committee that normally take place in Brussels.
You are kindly invited to take part in both meetings. The European Commission has provided a grant to reimburse travel and accommodation expenses of up to 30 participants from social partner organisations in the six countries concerned (i.e., Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Hungary). This means that we will be able to reimburse the costs of at least two trade union and two CEMR members from each country.
Please note that during the workshop and plenary you will be able to listen to and speak English, Bulgarian, Romanian, Hungarian, Czech/Slovak and Polish.
A draft agenda for the workshop is attached together with a registration form (deadline for registration is 31 October).
The agenda for the plenary meeting and further documentation for both meetings will be available shortly.
We look forward to seeing you in Bratislava.
