Workgroups on restructuring and on demographic change meet
(1 February 2008) The electricity social dialogue committee agreed two projects on restructuring and on demographic change. The steering committees of both groups met to discuss the projects with the experts. They will prepare a toolkit, or best practice guide.
The experts for the Restructuring project are from the London Metropolitan University and its Work Life Research Institure. Jane Pillinger will do the work on the demographic change project (She was also responsible for the Equality Toolkit).
A survey will be circulated to explore the practice of trade unions engaged in restructuring projects. Companies will then be selected and trade unionists interviewed. A similar process will be done for the demographic change project.
Participating for EPSU were Suzanne Senica, Verdi and Jan Ruden SEKO in the restructuring group and Catherine Fromal, CGT-FNME and Suzanne for the demographic change group. Two conferences are planned: 12 November on Restructuring and 14 November on Demographic Change.
