The four statements were signed by Sven Bergelin, Chair of the EPSU standing committee public utilities and chair of the sectoral social dialogue committee and Knut Herstad, vice chair of the social dialogue committee and chair of the Eurelectric delegation.

Both sides did not reach agreement on a trade union proposal for a joint position on the 3rd package on liberalization of the internal market. Eurelectric does not want to see reference to the social dimension in the internal market directives. The discussion will contine as regards the impact assessment which both sides feel is incomplete regarding its analysis of the employment effects.
The social partners further discussed two new projects:
Demographic change
Restructuring
The Corporate Social Responsibility Project will be finalized next year and the social partners will consider joint conclusions and the possibility to develop the final project in a practical guide for use by companies and unions in the sector.
The work programme for 2008 was adopted. Eurelectric’s chair of the social workgroup and vice-chair of the committee Knut Herstad retired and was thanked for his contribution to the work of the Committee. He will be succeeded by Emuella Preiti. She will also chair the sectoral social dialogue committee in 2008. The EPSU Deputy General Secretary spoke for the trade union delegation. The meeting took place 7 December 2007, Brussels.
