Materials on addressing health and safety issues in the waste sector
(5 November 2007) The EPSU affiliated trade union Ver.di has worked together with employers, several large companies (public and private), the health and safety insurance companies and others to produce a series of materials on health and safety and the waste sector. The materials include posters, short films on specific problems, presentations and suggestions for actions. Also management is addressed through specific leaflets. Issues covered are: manual handling of loads, noise, how to use safety of waste collection vehicules (including the boards on which workers step behind the trucks), the mechanical waste press machines, working with biological wastes etc. etc.
